Since 1985 the European Union designates one or more cities as a European Capital of Culture for a period of one calendar year. In 2020 Ireland is eligible to host the European Capital of Culture.
The three counties of Waterford, Kilkenny and Wexford have come together to develop a regional Bid to win the title of European Capital of Culture in 2020. Our Bid is an opportunity to generate considerable cultural, social and economic benefits for the region.
A series of public consultation meetings are being organised. This is an opportunity to bring your ideas to the table. These meetings are scheduled as follows:
- 18th March, 2015 Ormonde Hotel, Kilkenny @ 6.00 p.m.
- 19th March, 2015 The Large Room City Hall, The Mall, Waterford @ 6.00 p.m.
- 30th March, 2015 The Street, County Hall, Carricklawn, Wexford @ 6.00 p.m.
